Zodiac Maritime Agencies (London)

Zodiac is an international ship management company specializing in the management of Cape-size, Panamax-size and Handy-size Bulk Carriers, Reefer vessels, Chemical Tankers, Gas Tankers, Container Ships and Car Carriers. The origins of Zodiac go back to the late 1960's with the establishment in London of a ship management agency service. In the mid 1970's this agency service was taken over by the present Zodiac Maritime Agencies Limited - a United Kingdom Registered Company. From the beginning, the management's emphasis was to co-ordinate an effective team of professionals all working in unison toward the single goal of ensuring customer satisfaction. Over the years this philosophy has prevailed and the company now has an unrivalled team of long serving highly skilled managers and marine professionals. It is the dedication of this loyal team and its experience in total ship management that has been the key to the company's success from the humble start dealing with just 3 ships to the position today of over 70 ships and a staff in excess of 120.

CREWING
The company uses it's own representatives located in key areas of the world to co-ordinate manning which is seen as an essential component in delivering a quality service to it's customers. With minor exceptions, crews are supplied from five main areas, Turkey, Eastern Europe, Korea, and Philippines.
Such close control at the recruitment stage ensures only suitably qualified personnel are supplied to the vessels. The company has it's own cadet training programme, the yearly intake of cadets is in excess of 100, the candidates coming mainly from Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Latvia and Russia. In addition to training officers, Zodiac has a significant share holding in a seaman's training school in Turkey.
Many of the sea staff are long term employees some of which having served on ships managed by Zodiac in excess of 25 years. Loyalty and continuation of service is encouraged by the provision of a pension scheme and other initiatives to ensure a contented and professional workforce.

Chemikalien Seetransport GmbH

Over 40 Years dedication to Tanker Industry

In the mid-sixties, the design of a chemical carrier (IMO Type 2) with stainless steel cargo tanks was developed by MARINE SERVICE, the sister company of Chemikalien Seetransport. The first vessel, "CHEMICOASTER", was built in 1964 at the small shipyard D.W. Kremer in Elmshorn / Germany. The design was further developed and two newbuildings were delivered from the same shipyard in 1969 and 1970. The delivery of MT "CHEMICAL SPRINTER", a 2,500 tdw chemical tanker, resulted in the foundation of Chemikalien Seetransport as management company.

The management and operation of their first-ever LNG carrier, the "ISABELLA", was taken over in 1974. This marks the beginning of the company's specialisation in the operation of liquefied gas tankers and tankers for petroleum products.

The strategic focus on tanker shipping makes Reederei Chemikalien Seetransport a part of the international shipping industry's most dynamic sector. Experience from over 40 years of maritime history forms the foundation for success: Reederei Chemikalien Seetransport have proven themselves with their international scope, and are also superbly prepared for the demands of the future and further strong growth, with a modern and homogeneous fleet of all different kinds of tankers, i.e. crude oil, clean products, ethylene and LNG.

In 1982, Peter Kramer, the present chairman, started work in his father's company in the second generation. Since 2003 the dynamic growth resulted in the foundation of subsidiaries in Limassol / Cyprus and Singapore. Since that year the company became partner in international shipping pools from Heidmar and Handytankers.

The total number of staff onshore is over sixty (60), including their highly qualified technical / commercial staff consisting of highly skilled and experienced naval architects, marine engineers, commercial / financial / contract experts with the corresponding number of assistants / technicians and qualified secretaries.

Adding to their steady mainstay of tanker shipping, CST took over the management of two Panamax bulk carriers with 73,000 tonnage capacity in 2005. The bulkers were gradually integrated and used on the spot market by the internal chartering department. Further deliveries from Chinese shipyards up to Postpanamaxsize are expected in the near future.
